We started our butterfly gardens in 2008, with a grant from Lowe’s Tool Box for Education and a lot of elbow grease. We later added a pollinator garden, generously financed by a grant from Charlotte North Rotary Club. For more than a decade, the gardens provided a learning lab for students and a home for caterpillars, butterflies, birds and countless other creatures.
